Inauguration of the Kattumanar Koil project on community storage of pesticides by the Hon. Minister for Health at Kattumanar Koil. The Community Storage of Pesticides Project funded by WHO towards distancing the means easily accessible to the farmers to commit suicide had been started in Kattumanarkoil. The study will see the effect such a storage has had in affecting the suicide rate in the district. This is aimed as a model project, based on which future projects can be shaped depending on its workability.

Sneha organised a two-day International workshop on suicide prevention. The topic was "Towards a multi-dimensional approach to suicide prevention in India". The highlights of the workshop were commemorative lectures on "Youth Suicide" by Dr. David Clark, Chicago-USA; Prof. Robert Goldney, Australia spoke on the topic "Suicide Prevention-everyone's responsibility". Vanda Scott, U.K. spoke on "The role of Voluntary Organisations in Suicide Prevention".


Sticker campaigns on suicide prevention in the auto-rickshaws in Chennai. Conducted street-plays in Tamil in the slum areas in Chennai with the help of the Nalamdana Stage group.


Sneha invited Prof. Dr. Richard Frederick Ramsay from the University of Alberta, Canada for conducting a two-day Workshop, on the need for suicide prevention centres.


On the occasion of the seventh anniversary celebrations Sneha invited other voluntary Social Service Organisations to participate and speak about their services. 18 such organisations participated in this programme under the President ship of the renowned social worker Mrs. Sarojini Vardappan.
